What is GLA:D back?

GLA:D® Back is an exercise based treatment for people with ongoing low back pain that impacts their everyday activities.

The program is a combination of education and exercise classes. This can help you understand the how and why of low back pain and assist in building new strategies to help with self management.

GLA:D® Back program is also a research program conducted by researchers at Macquarie University in combination with The University of Southern Denmark.

The program is outlined in the diagram below:

  1. Begins with an assessment to ask questions about your back pain, set some goals and obtain some baseline measures.

  2. This is followed by education sessions to help inform and empower you to manage your pain

  3. Then 16 exercise sessions are completed (2x week for 8 weeks)

  4. Finally finishing with a re-assessment of the baseline measure previosuly obtained.
